Hello, my cycling buddies. During my ride from London to Paris around a month ago, I was given the challenge to lose weight and get fit. There is a prize of £1000 if I make it to 11 stone 7 pounds from Phillip. Which is an added bonus. There was a lot of banter from my London boys and too. I know it’s a tall order but you have to have something to chase. I’ve lost weight before but never as low as 11 stone 7 pounds. To give you some context. Before the London, to Paris ride my weight was 15 stone 5 pounds. The covid had left its mark and helped with my mouth chopping away on nuts, crisps, and biscuits. and not training the weight pilled on. It’s completely my fault.

The Paris ride was a wake-up call I didn’t know I needed. If you read my earlier post, you will know I really didn’t want to do the ride but it was it turned out to be the best thing that happened. It reminded me of my better self. A strong rider with stamina.

Time to get serious

Since getting back I’ve been on a diet and I’m happy to report that I’ve lost two kilos, but more is needed. Simon offered me his wattbike pro to help with the weight but after a little research I found out that what I really need is the wattbike atom which works better with Zwift. After researching eBay I found the prices were quite high compared to a new one. What the hell? I thought. So I ended up buying a new one. The most expensive bike I bought apart from my touring bike that will never see the road.  Time to invest in me. I’ve set the bike up in my bedroom. No escaping it. It’s there looking at me when I wake up. A visible reminder of what is needed. No excuses.

So to my cycling buddies out there. I am calling on you for support. follow me on Strava. call me out when I’m not on it. Send me your words of wisdom and kick me up the ass.
