Camping in Coimbrao

Covered a further 75 miles today with help from Pebro. He really didn’t need to do what he did. Such a nice chap.
So I was getting tired and as always the place your looking for is at the top of a hill. I finally arrived at the camping ground which in owned by a German couple. Cost me €6.50 with an extra €1.00 for WiFi but the connection is amazing. Better than most of the hotels I’ve stayed at.

Made my second meal of the day on my stove. Three packs of cupper soup followed by coffee, better than not eating. I’ll get better grub tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a dry night.

So the bike is chained up and all the kit is in the tent. Let’s see what tomorrow brings..

Pedro to the rescue..

I passed Figueira da Foz light house and come in to the main town. There is a river called Ria da Mondego which needs crossing but the bridge which goes by the same name. The problem is its a really long bridge and looked to only allow cars / trucks on it. I spoke to a local who said that I could ride around it and its only 10 miles or so. So off I went to by pass it. To cut a long story short I was riding for about an hour and found myself in the same spot. Some how I had done a great big loop and straight back to where I had started.

This is where Pedro come to the rescue. He is a local sparks who works for the water company. I asked him for directions out of there and said did one better and offered to give me a lift in his van. So we put the bike in the back of his van and he took me as cross the river..
Thank you very very very much Mr Pedro for your help.. God bless you my friend..

Mira to Figueira da Foz

Started off early this morning heading for Figueira da Fox light house. I come across a deserted beach along the way, so I stopped for lunch which consisted of a tin of hotdogs and bread which I cooked on my stove. Then I continued to the light house which up a mountain… Or hill. On reaching the top I gave a rocky punch in the air. Man that mountain was really hard work. Here are some images to share.

The cobles stones of Porto

I arrived in Porto late Tuesday night after riding 85 miles and having a few thrills and spills along the way, more about another time. Woke up to the same wet damp weather but decided to have a little look the city of Porto. This amazing city has great buildings and even more impressive bridges lined by cobbled streets which is not good for touring bikes. Here are a few images of Porto.

Random acts update.. 3 and counting

Random acts of kindness is harder than I first thought but I am pleased to say that a further two have been added. The very simple act of giving money to people who are clearly in need has been the easiest way I have found to date. I’ve not found a cat stuck up a tree or a good looking lady stranded on the side of the road with a flat tyre yet but rest assured I’m still looking. So the random act counter now stands at 3.

To date I have received more help from from complete strangers than I’ve given out. Most of them have been language issues and directions. So a big thanks to the people who have in their own small way helped us. I am sure the universe will send them my thanks in some way..
